The secret behind the value: How does PAC Frenergy work?

PAC Frenergy Heat Recovery Hot Water System

➢ Connects the air conditioning refrigerant circuit at the discharge line from the compressor (approx. 90-100°C) to the hot water tank.

➢ Heat from the refrigerant is transferred through heat exchange pipes to the water inside the tank, raising the water temperature up to 70°C depending on system operating conditions.

➢ After heat exchange, the refrigerant flows back into the air conditioning system and dissipates heat through the condenser as usual, while hot water is stored in the tank, ready for use.

“Frenergy utilizes waste heat from cooling systems to generate hot water, turning energy loss into cost savings.”

FAQ About PAC Frenergy

A: By modifying the air conditioning circuit to allow heat exchange between the refrigerant and water, the air conditioner works less, resulting in electricity savings.

A: The water can be used for domestic purposes such as showering, washing hair, cleaning dishes, and laundry. The tank is made of special grade Vitreous Enamel Coated Steel (DIN 4753), which is Food Grade. Since the water in the tank and the refrigerant system do not come into contact, there is no contamination or danger to users.

A: The heat recovery system itself does not use electricity, so these safety devices are not required. However, the optional 1.5 kW electric heater can be grounded to prevent electric shock or leakage. To prevent scalding, it is typically used with mixing faucets at various points to achieve the desired temperature. An additional thermostatic valve can also be installed to control the hot water temperature from the tank as needed.

A: 1,000-1,500 W, depending on the selection. The hot water tank can retain heat for approximately 3 days, though this varies based on the ambient temperature of the installation site.

A: No. In fact, the compressor performs better, consumes less current, and provides better cooling. It also extends the lifespan of the air conditioning unit.

A: Not necessarily. We usually recommend connecting it to 1-2 frequently used air conditioners to produce hot water continuously, though this depends on your specific usage.

A: It can produce hot water at 50-60°C without using electricity.

A: On average, it takes about 2 hours to reach 60°C. This depends on the size of both the air conditioner and the water heater. A high BTU air conditioner with a small tank will heat water quickly, while a low BTU unit with a large tank will take longer.

A: The PAC Frenergy heat recovery water heater can be equipped with a 1-1.5 kW backup electric heater to generate heat when the AC is off or not running at full capacity, such as during cold weather or illness. We recommend this installation to ensure a constant hot water supply. The impact on electricity costs is minimal since the primary heat source throughout the year is the AC, and a 1-1.5 kW heater consumes very little power.
